Van Jaarsveld escapes with a 'warning'
NEWS: Cheetahs hooker Torsten van Jaarsveld has been warned for bad sportsmanship during his team's 21-48 loss to the Crusaders on Saturday.
Van Jaarsveld was issued with a warning for contravening Law 10.4(m) Any other acts (not previously referred to) which are contrary to good sportsmanship, during the Super Rugby match.
The incident occurred in the 31st minute of the match played at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. Van Jaarsveld placed his forearm on an opposing player's neck whilst that player was on the ground.
A warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.
Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a warning was appropriate.
