Kerevi a Wallaby concern

REACTION: Reds coach Nick Stiles was noticeably upset that his side let another victory slip away.

However, Wallaby coach Michael Cheika has a bigger headache in the wake of the Reds' 29-34 loss to the Blues in a historic match in Apia, in Samoa, on Friday.

Star centre Samu Kerevi is one of two Wallabies injured in the a match in which the Reds twice held the lead in the second half - the Blues' match-winning score coming five minutes from the end.

Kerevi was forced off with a left ankle injury in the 10th minute, while lock Lukhan Tui hurt his left shoulder just minutes into the second half.

Initial reports suggest Kerevi is almost certainly out of the Wallabies' opening Test of the year - against Fiji in Melbourne next Saturday.

That is followed by encounters with Scotland and Italy the following weekends.

Stiles admitted Kerevi is doubtful for the Wallabies' Test against Fiji.

"I doubt that'll happen," Stiles told a post-match media briefing, when asked if Kerevi would play against his country of birth.

"We won't know until the scan but it doesn't look good at this stage."

Medical staff are hopeful it is only a grade one injury, but even that would rule him out for two to four weeks.

He's not expected to need surgery, but will have scans on Saturday.

Tui's shoulder injury isn't thought to be as serious, with Stiles pulling him in the second half as a precaution.

Tui, 20, looked shattered as he trudged off just a few days after his shock call-up, but Stiles rated him a better chance of recovering in time for Wallabies camp.

"Lukhan seems fine - a shoulder knock, nothing major," Stiles said.

"We didn't want to risk him damaging it further. The medicos don't seem too stressed about it."

Stiles was filthy with how his team fell to the Blues.
