The No.8 sustained the injury while playing a National Provincial Cup match for Southland against Manawatu two weeks ago.

At first, the 28-year-old did not comprehend the severity of the injury but after several days noticed his bicep was a little deformed.

He went for scans and medical staff determined he would have to undergo surgery.

The three to four months rehabilitation period means that the No.8 will miss the All Blacks Maori tour to Canada, however, he will be back in time for the Highlanders pre-season fixtures.
