SUPER RUGBY PRE-SEASON REPORT: Waratahs suffered a 29-55 defeat to the Highlanders in cold conditions in Queenstown.

The match was played over three 30 minute periods, in chilly conditions.

The Highlanders took the early lead thanks to a Greg Pleasants-Tate try, however, Waratahs took a 10-7 lead courtesy of a double by wing Alex Newsome at end of the first 30-minute period.

In the second 30-minutes, the Highlanders up the intensity.

Tries by Josh Ioane, Jackson Hemopo and a Rob Thompson double handed Hurricanes the 33-10 lead while Waratahs were kept scoreless.
