Fleck struggling to weather the storm

The Stormers' current form has not only left many questioning the team's commitment and culture but also the commitment of coach Robbie Fleck.

Speaking on Late Tackle – the talk show with a difference, brings in various personalities from all over the rugby world each week to dissect hot topics and provide unique insight into the professional game – Morgan Newman pulled no punches in questioning the coach's commitment.

"I don't know if Robbie Fleck is already on the next plane out to go coach somewhere else, how much desire he has to want to coach the Stormers and make them a successful side, because he has got another gig [lined up]," Newman said.

The 2017 Africa One conference winners have won just three of their eight matches – all at home – but what seems to be frustrating their fans is the fact that they have yet to learn from their defeats and are repeating the same errors each week.

"What frustrates me about the Stormers currently is that week in and week out, we talk about the same thing. They are sitting with the same problems and it never gets fixed. I speak from an outsiders point of view, I don't know what they are doing at training because the mistakes they are making are the same problems over and over.

"Do we see a Stormers game plan? Personally, I am not seeing it. To me, the Stormers go out and it almost looks like 'go express yourself'," he added.

Despite all the negativity surrounding the overall team performance, Blitzbok stalwart Chris Dry recognises that there have been some positives from individuals but that has not helped their cause.

"There is a lot of good individual things that are happening in the game but the rest of the guys are not aware of what is happening," Dry said.

"As a team, you have to get close to each other and understand each other better. As a team, they [Stormers] need to gel and [then] let them express themselves," he added.
