AUDIO: Stormers 'united' in their suffering

SUPER RUGBY SPOTLIGHT: After their latest loss, assistant coach Paul Treu wanted to make it clear that there is no division in the Stormers' management team.

The Stormers suffered their sixth defeat of the season when they went down to the Sharks 17-24 at Kings Park on Saturday.

After 10 rounds of competition, the Cape side are currently at the bottom of the South African Conference and 12th overall in the standings.

They have only won three games this season and all those have been at Newlands, losing all six of their away games.

The Stormers do not look like a well-coached unit at the moment. They have often looked clueless on attack with a bash and hope mentality and their game has been plagued by schoolboy errors.

There has been a lot of criticism levelled at head coach Robbie Fleck and his management team. However, Treu, who oversees the team's structured play, came out in defence of his colleagues.

"When things are not going well, everyone always wants to blame something and I want to put it out there. We spoke about it as a management team and one area where there is no concern is that there is no split or uncertainty in terms of our roles as the management," Treu told reporters at the team's base in Bellville.

"This is now coming from us coaches, we are as united and speaking from one voice.

"There is no uncertainty when it comes to what my role is, what Paul Feeney's role [in charge of unstructured play] is or any of the other coaches. We have done it in a certain way because we felt that for us to interact as coaches better it doesn't matter what title we have. We work together as a management team.

"We are a management team and that is how we work. I just want to bring that across. I wasn't sure if you guys [reporters] are going to ask it because there are a lot of people on social media and in the media speculating why it is not working.

"I can tell you now, that is the least of our concerns at the moment. We are united as a management team. We do things together.

"Whatever we present to the team, there is one voice."

The Stormers face the Melbourne Rebels at Newlands on Friday.
