Fleck: I'm not going anywhere

SUPER RUGBY REACTION: Stormers head coach Robbie Fleck is still confident about his team's chances of making this year's Super Rugby play-offs.

Speaking to reporters after his team's 34-18 win over the Melbourne Rebels on Friday, Fleck also wanted to make it clear that he will see out his contract in Cape Town, which runs until the end of the 2019 season, despite reports earlier in the year linking him to a move to the United Kingdom.

There has also been speculation that Fleck could be replaced as Stormers coach due to their poor performances this season, but the 42-year-old seems to have the backing of the Western Province bosses.

"I still got another year on my contract. I think that [reports linking him to Welsh club Ospreys] was dealt with when we were on tour," said Fleck.

"I am here and I have committed to the players and they are committed to us. We are just driving this process to get better and better and make the qualification [play-offs] and again next year, so I'm not going anywhere."

Fleck knows that his team cannot afford to drop too many points in their quest to finish in the top eight.

"We still believe that we can fight our way back into qualification. The bonus point would have been great, and it was important that the Rebels didn't get a bonus point because if we are not going to win our conference then we got to get into that top eight and we will be battling against other teams in that regard.

"When there is pressure in this game, you assume that things are for the worse, but the crowd was here. It was a great crowd for a long weekend - it just lifts the spirits of the guys and the fans were into it and it is a huge difference for us.

"We got the Bulls at home and the Chiefs and we are looking forward to those games now. It is a confidence booster. There are things in our game that is very good and there is still some soft moments, but we will keep working on that," Fleck added.
