Triggs true to his southern 'roots'

Fri, 31 Oct 2008 09:36

Hayden Triggs named in the Highlanders squad on Friday, previously announced as a transfer/loan back player has now confirmed he will stay in the south signing with Otago until 2010.

Otago Chief Executive Richard Reid said: "Manawatu have decided to release Hayden from his contract. He has shown what he is capable of in the Highlanders' 2008 campaign and we are delighted to have him available for the Highlanders and Otago.

"Triggs enjoyed his time in Dunedin with the Highlanders earlier this year and that was a big factor in his move south," explained Reid.

Triggs, 26, was a draft player for Highlanders in 2008 and has played for Manawatu since 2002.

He was part of the Hurricanes squad in 2007 and had two years with the New Zealand Divisional XV in 2004 and 2005.
