Thigh trouble strikes Bosman

Thu, 15 May 2008 19:22

The Cheetahs have been dealt a hard blow ahead of their Super 14 derby match against the Bulls at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The Free State franchise's leading backline player this season, Springbok centre Meyer Bosman, has injured a thigh muscle during training on Thursday.

He was immediately rushed to hospital where he underwent scans to assess the extent of the damage caused by the injury.

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské spoke to OFM about the incident and confirmed that a decision about Bosman's participation in the Bulls match would only be taken on Friday.

"We will know tomorrow [Friday] whether he can play," said Drotské.

If Bosman was forced to withdraw, it would cause some problems for the coaching team, since he has been the most effective game breaker for the Cheetahs this year.

Drotské would still have the option of moving JW Jonker to outside centre and moving Hendrik Meyer to inside centre.
