Jason honing in on a debut

Up and coming wing Jason Hona is excited about the prospect of a possible Super Rugby cap, after he was selected in the 26-strong Chiefs squad which departed for South Africa at the weekend.
"I'm over the moon to be going over there," Hona said in an interview on the Chiefs' website, shortly before his departure on Sunday.
"This is what professional rugby is all about and what most guys want to aim for. Camaraderie and being around the team environment is what I am looking forward to."
Hona, 23, a member of the Chiefs Wider Training Group, traveled with the Chiefs while wing Lelia Masaga stays at home to continue rehabilitation on his injured shoulder.
Masaga's shoulder is progressing well and he has been training with the Chiefs in their pre-season build-up.
Last Friday Hona enjoyed a start on the wing for the Chiefs in their 12-17 pre-season loss against the Hurricanes in Rotorua.
"Pre-season is about finding where we are at and there are definitely things to work on in my game," the flyer said.
"I've noticed in the pre-season games I've played so far that the intensity is about ten steps above Air NZ Cup. The experience really gets the flames burning inside of me to play better and to strive to play for higher honours."
Hona has played in South Africa before as a member of the NZ Sevens team.
The Chiefs are on a three-match road trip, which starts when they play the Sharks on Saturday, February 13, in Durban, then face the Lions (a week later) in Johannesburg and conclude the trip with a game against the Western Force in Perth in Round Three.
