Crusaders without Ellis in Hamilton?
Mon, 08 Mar 2010 10:52
Crusaders' scrumhalf Andy Ellis suffered a concussion injury in the victory over the Blues in Christchurch on Saturday and will be assessed in the course of the week as to his availability for Friday’s game against the Chiefs in Hamilton.
The 26-year-old Ellis, an All Black with 14 Test caps, is a key member of the Crusaders' backline and if he is ruled out for the game in Hamilton, it will come as a setback for the Crusaders, who have now won three games out of four.
Two members of the Crusaders wider training group have more serious injuries.
Hooker Quentin MacDonald has been ruled out for the rest of the Super 14 due to a ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament.
MacDonald was injured during the Crusaders Development Unit’s victory over their Blues counterparts at Rugby Park, Christchurch, on Saturday. He will have surgery within the next few weeks and his expected recovery time is six to nine months.
Also injured in that match was captain Ash Parker, the No.8 breaking a bone in his left hand. He will be out of action for about a month.
