More bad news for McAlister

Luke McAlister's injury woes continue, with the All Black flyhalf-cum-centre fracturing his nose at Blues training on Monday and unlikely to play against the Brumbies on Friday.
A calf injury meant McAlister missed the first four weeks of the Super 14 but he looked to be back in business when he got through a North Harbour club game on Saturday as the Blues enjoyed their bye week.
But stuff.co.nz reports that when the Blues reassembled for training on Monday, McAlister was an early casualty.
A clash of heads in contact training saw him leave the field with blood pouring from his nose with the medical staff required to straighten it.
Asked if McAlister would play against the Brumbies at Eden Park, coach Pat Lam told Stuff: "Probably not now. He has taken a knock - that's just the way it is."
Lam had intended to introduce McAlister to the lineup with a place at inside centre or on the bench.
It continues a disappointing run of ill-fortune for McAlister who returned to New Zealand mid-season last year but has been dogged by injury problems including a fractured cheek.
There was better news on other injury fronts with utility back Isaia Toeava's troublesome hip having improved sufficiently for him to train fully. He is expected to be playing again very soon. Fellow All Black Anthony Tuitavake, comfortable at centre or wing, is in a similar position.
