Soweto's Super Final is a sell-out

Tue, 25 May 2010 10:53

Tickets to the historic Super 14 Final, between the Bulls and Stormers at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, sold out within minutes on Tuesday.

A SAPA reporter at Computicket in Cresta shopping centre, north of Johannesburg, who was 10th in line, was told that tickets were sold out by 09.06 (six minutes after sales opened).

Many who had been queuing since early morning left disappointed, including a builder who had been waiting with his workers to buy tickets for the historical event on Saturday.

An official at the Computicket call centre confirmed that everything had been sold out.

"We don't have any tickets anymore," the official said around 09.30.

Computicket offices opened at 09.00 countrywide to give the public access to 3200 tickets for the historic first-ever rugby Final in Soweto.

Several fans tweeted about their frustration.

"In queue for Super 14 finals tickets. Painfully slow, already rumours that its sold out! Just not fair. Fcuk!! [sic]," complained one fan named frankie2x on the twitter.

Some rugby365.com readers were more fortunate.

"I GOT TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Was sold out in 11mins guys, now only have to book my plane tickets. Watch out for the 4 Stormers fans going apesh!t in Soweto..," said a reader called Daddy Fantastic.

There were also the unlucky ones.

"Sold Out After 20 minutes!! Firstly, the computicket website was so darn slow you couldn't book feckall. The computicket hotline was engaged. And now, after 20 minutes of trying to get in, the tickets have been sold out already. I guess that's what happens when there is only 3200 tickets made available to plebbs like us....," bemoaned a rugby365.com reader called Angry African

Bulls Season ticket holders have 14,000 of the stadium's 36,500 seats reserved for them. The cost per ticket is R350.

These tickets are available from SuperSport Park in Centurion. Season ticket holders will be able to purchase their tickets on Tuesday, May 25, from 09.00. Those wishing to purchase tickets must bring their original season ticket as reference.

Ticket Allocation:

The capacity of the Orlando Stadium is 36,500 - which is 13,500 less than Loftus Versfeld. This has a significant impact on out ticket distribution.
