Elwood snaps up Super Aussie

Connacht have beefed up their pack for the new Magners League season by signing Reds Super Rugby forward Ezra Taylor.
New Director of Rugby Eric Elwood has recruited the 27-year-old lock turned No.8 to add to his forward power and he could fit into a back row that already boasts Irish internationals in John Muldoon and Jonny O'Connor.
Born in Brisbane, but raised in New Zealand, Taylor played for the New Zealand Schools and New Zealand Under-19 teams, before graduating into the Otago NPC team in 2006.
Taylor debuted for Otago in 2006 and played for the Highlanders in 2007.
He made his Super 14 debut against the Lions and made eight appearances for the New Zealand outfit before a knee injury wrecked his 2008 campaign. In 2009 he transferred to the Reds, making eight appearances in another injury ravaged season.
He played seven times for the Reds in the 2010 Super 14 competition and has recently combined his rugby with studying to become a fitness trainer. He has also partially completed a Bachelor of Arts in Pacific Studies from Otago University.
As a former lock, Ezra had the line-out skills and natural aggression at the breakdown to excel at both roles.
