Discarded All Black loose forward Adam Thomson is set to become the next player to depart Dunedin and head north to a stronger union.
Thomson, who has been named in the New Zealand Sevens Commonwealth Games squad after being overlooked for the All Blacks' Tri-Nations squad, has hinted that he'll join the Crusaders for next year's inaugural Super 15.
The blindside flank is still undecided about whether he'll move from the Highlanders, but he says he needs a strong team to improve his game.
He says there are positive signs in the south and things are shaking up down there and they've got some good ideas, so he believes they'll be an improved side.
But Thomson's indicated the Crusaders are the front-runners by saying he needs the team that will give him the best chance of being in the World Cup squad.
The Sevens squad completes a two day training camp in Auckland on Tuesday.
