Carter scoop for Toulon?

Fri, 09 May 2008 14:07

All Black star flyhalf Daniel Carter has verbally agreed on conditions to sign with Toulon as long as they earn promotion to the French Top 14 competition, the French media reports.

According to respected newspaper Midi-Olympique, negotiations between Carter and the club have been fruitful, with conditions confirmed as long as the Tana Umaga-coached club is promoted.

The paper has reported that Carter's base salary is a staggering €700,000.

He would earn another €100,000 by agreeing to allow the wealthy club to use his image for marketing, merchandise and promotional activities.

It is a one-year deal which would make the All Black pivot the highest paid player in the world.
