Du Plooy to hang up his boots

Sun, 22 Jun 2008 13:01

Former Free State Cheetahs lock, Boela Du Plooy, will retire at the end of the season, his French club Stade Francais revealed on Sunday.

Du Plooy, 31, joined the Paris-based club in November 2005 on a three-year contract.

He joins a long list of players to quit the club this year.

Prop Pieter de Villiers has already retired as will winger Christophe Dominici at the end of the season.

Flyhalf David Skrela is leaving for Toulouse, while coach Fabien Galthie will be replaced by Australian Ewen McKenzie.

Stade Francais meet Toulouse in the second French Top 14 semi-final in Bordeaux on Sunday. The winner will meet Clermont next Saturday.
