Tough start for SANZAR show

Thu, 08 Oct 2009 10:53

Defending champion Springboks and nine-time champion All Blacks will get the 2010 Tri-Nations tournament underway with back-to-back Tests in New Zealand.

It is a fitting start to the SANZAR showpiece, just a year out from the next World Cup - to be held in New Zealand in 2011.

The schedule for the 2010 Tri-Nations was announced by SANZAR on Thursday.

The ten-week tournament kicks off in Auckland on July 10, with South Africa returning to New Zealand to defend the crown they clinched in that country last month.

Australia enter the competition on July 24, with a home match against the Springboks in Brisbane.

The series concludes on September 11 in Sydney, with the Wallabies hosting the All Blacks.
