New dad Weepu back on board

Big daddy: Piri Weepu is back in the mix

All Blacks scrumhalf Piri Weepu will hardly be given any time to celebrate the birth of his daughter before being required to report back for duty with the national team.

Weepu was initially on the 'doubtful' list for New Zealand's opening Bledisloe Cup/Tri-Nations double-header with Australia - in Melbourne on Saturday - as he awaited the birth of his first child.

However, Weepu will join up with the All Blacks at their training base on Tuesday, after his first-born arrived in good health on Sunday.

Weepu will travel to Melbourne on Tuesday, to join the squad who travelled to the Victorian capital on Sunday. Of course, Weepu was the starting scrumhalf in the All Blacks' 31-17 win over the Springboks in Wellington just over a week ago.

New Zealand currently lead the Tri-Nations standings, with a full-house 10 from a possible 10 points. Australia have four points after their win over South Africa, who have no points after three matches.
