New venue for a Bok Test: Soccer City in Soweto
All of the 5,000 tickets that went on sale in Soweto for the historic Test match between the Springboks and the All Blacks at the National Stadium (formerly Soccer City) have been sold out.
The Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) announced that tickets for the Test went on sale on Monday morning in Soweto and were sold out in a matter of hours.
"It's truly great to see tickets to this Test selling out in such a short period of time," said André Homan, the GLRU's Commercial Manager.
"Within just two days, the first phase of 45,000 tickets sold out. The next phase of 5,000 tickets, that went on sale n Soweto on Monday, were completely sold out in a few hours.
"The success of these sales has far exceeded our wildest expectations, but we are thrilled that what initially seemed like a risk has turned into an astronomical success."
Homan advised that an announcement about a possible third phase of tickets would be made in the next few days.
"We're just waiting to see how many tickets allocated to various stake holders will be returned," said Homan.
"At the moment, we have a long waiting list and after catering for those people and if there are tickets left, they will be put up for sale."
