The Boks have landed

Fri, 27 Jun 2008 18:13

After a lengthy flight, the Boks have arrived in Wellington and will begin their week's preparations on Saturday morning in light of their opening Tri-Nations clash with New Zealand.

The Springbok squad will have their first field training session (since the unconvincing 26-0 Test win against Italy) on Sunday at Porirua park in Wellington.

The Boks are still without team captain John Smit, who will join them next week after playing in the Top 14 final in France this weekend.

Preparations include a two-hour gym session on Saturday morning, a one-hour field session on Sunday, two field sessions on each of Monday and Tuesday and one on Thursday.

The world champions get the Wednesday off but will attend the mandatory Prime Ministers' function in the evening.

The announcement of the Test-22 is then scheduled for Thursday.

The Springboks will stay on in Wellington while preparing for the second Tri-Nations Test against the All Blacks in Dunedin the following Saturday, and will only leave for Dunedin on Thursday afternoon after training in the morning.
