Pool Stages: England and Australia dominate from the early stages

In Pool A, Australia and Ireland outclassed Argentina, Romania and Namibia to progress to the knock out stage.

France and Scotland sent Fiji, United States and Japan packing in Pool B.

In Pool C, England and South Africa left Samoa, Uruguay and Georgia behind.

While in Pool D, New Zealand and Wales ran riot over Italy, Canada and Tonga.

Andy Miller's, 52m drop-goal was the longest one at a World Cup.

England showed their dominance by crushing Uruguay 113-13 in Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane – with 10 players of England getting their name on the board. 

Australia demolished Namibia 142-0, which is the highest winning margin at the World Cup.

Both, England and Australia had over 100 points in the pool stages.

Namibia conceded the most points (282) in the pool stages.

There was a new point system used in this World Cup- with four points for a win, two points for a draw, 0 points for a loss, one bonus point four scoring more than four tries and one bonus point for a loss by seven points or less.

This was the first time were bonus points were implemented at a World Cup.
