For the first time in Rugby World Cup history had two teams met in the pool stages and then again in the final.

England flyhalf,Johny Wilkinson praised the Boks for a great performance throughout the tournament. He said:"South Africa deserved to win,they have been fantastic all tournament. Big respect to them. It is their moment. But we gave it everything we had and we are very disappointed."

Bryan Habana was ecstatic over South Africa victory.

"Our country has supported us all the way. I don't think words can describe what I'm feeling". "It's a special bunch of guys and they have put a lot of time into winning the world cup", said Habana.

To top off a successful year for South African rugby, Jake White was named coach of the year, Bryan Habana was named IRB player of the year and South Africa finish 2007 as the number one ranked team.
