Player ratings: Drowned out

Argentina showed plenty of heart and determination against the All Blacks in Hamilton, but it was not enough to avoid a 28-13 defeat.

The visitors were very impressive in the scrums and got off the line quickly on defence, but their line-outs were woeful and they were not able to build any meaningful momentum on attack.

The rainy conditions levelled the playing field somewhat, but the Pumas were still outscored by three tries to one which proved the difference between the sides.

We rate the Argentina players:

15 Juan Martin Hernandez

Made a terrible start by putting the kick-off out on the full but recovered well and made some good tactical kicks along with showing that he can run and beat defenders as well.

6/10

14 Gonzalo Camacho

An energetic outing for the busy wing who competed well in the air and made good ground with the ball before going off with a dislocated shoulder.

6/10

13 Marcelo Bosch

A quiet game from the centre who was kept busy on defence but battled to impose himself on attack and put a kick out on the full.

5/10

12 Santiago Fernandez

Stood his ground well in midfield and got up quickly on defence. Chasd hard and also showed good hands when he got the chance.

6/10

11 Horacio Agulla

Limited opportunities, ran hard with and without the ball, but also lost it forward at times.

5/10

10 Nicolas Sanchez

A solid kicking game and was accurate off the tee. Took the ball to the line and also handed off Andrew Hore.

6/10

9 Martin Landajo

Decent service and made a few good box kicks but also got charged down twice and battled to contain his opposite number.

5/10

8 Juan Manuel Leguizamon

Made a few telling runs and finished off the try well. Also tackled hard and even showed that he can kick but a few errors as he went offside and knocked on.

7/10

7 Pablo Matera

Made a crucial turnover on his tryline and carried the ball up well showing plenty of enthusiasm on defence as well.

7/10

6 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe

Got through a mountain of work and linked well for the try. Competed in the air and made a huge hand-off on Ben Smith but was lucky to avoid a yellow card after holding Saili back at the end which spoiled it to an extent.

6/10

5 Julio Farias Cabello

A disappointing performance as he was shown up in the line-outs and did not make the expected impact around the park, whilst he also missed a crucial tackle on Carter which led to the All Blacks' second try.

4/10

4 Manuel Carizza

Made a few basic errors as he was blown up at the breakdown and lost the ball forward, but was the best of a shaky line-out.

5/10

3 Juan Figallo

A highly impressive performance, he was huge at scrum-time as he got the better of both All Black looseheads and also made an impact around the park with some good work on defence and an interception.

8/10

2 Eusebio Guinazu

A nightmare for the hooker who could not find his line-out jmupers and was shown a yellow card for repeated breakdown infringements.

3/10

1 Marcos Ayerza

Solid scrumming from the loosehead who gave Charlie Faumuina a hard time and also made his presence felt around the park.

7/10

Replacements:

16 Agustin Creevy (On for Guinazu, 49 mins)

The line-out improved noticeably once he came on and he made his fair share of tackles as well.

7/10

17 Nahuel Lobo (On for Ayerza, 70 mins)

Failed to continue the scrum dominance as the All Blacks got the late ascendency.

5/10

18 Juan Pablo Orlandi (On for Figallo, 62 mins)

Got blown up for collapsing a scrum, and did not really make much of an impact.

5/10

19 Mariano Galarza (On for Farias Cabello, 55 mins)

Got blown up for sealing off a ruck, but contributed to the improved line-out performance.

6/10

20 Benjamin Macome (On for Matera, 76 mins)

Not enough time to be rated.

21 Tomas Cubelli (On for Landajo, 66 mins)

Crisp service and worked hard but fell off a few tackles.

6/10

22 Felipe Contepomi (On for Fernandez, 72 mins)

Not enough time to be rated.

23 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino (On for Camacho, 46 mins)

Did not get many opportunities to show off his running game, but a solid contribution on defence.

6/10
