Gill all geared up

Wallabies and Reds flank Liam Gill is ready and excited to get in and amongst the Lions during the Test series starting in Brisbane on Saturday.

The tearaway loose forward has been a little frustrated by not being involved in playing against the Lions yet but realises that the opportunity to play them in a Test match is the ultimate opportunity.

Gill told lionsrugby.com: "It was hard watching each of our franchises take on the Lions and sitting back and waiting for our turn. It's put us in a good place to take them on. We're understanding more and more about the pressure of this event."

Having a few weeks off after a grueling period of Super Rugby has been good for the side and has helped them freshen up and prepare for the onslaught that the Lions are going to provide.

"It's a Godsend to have a few weeks off. Everyone is feeling refreshed and ready to go.

"We're ready to rumble and very excited about what comes ahead of us," Gill added.

The Wallabies have had a good view of the Lions over the last couple of weeks watching them play against the Australian Super Rugby franchises and a Combined Country XV. Gill feels that just being at these games has given him a taste of what the whole spectacle is about.

"We're starting to get excited. We've had a taste of what's to come from watching the franchises play, but I don't think it will compare to the Test series," said Gill.

The Lions have flown out of the blocks in all of their games except for the Reds game when they were put under pressure early but Cooper and company. This is a factor that Gill and the rest of the Wallabies are wary of and realise that they are going to have to weather the early storm well.

"We're very wary of how they will start. They come out at a rate of knots, so we understand that we have to front up and be there from the first 10 minutes until the last 10 minutes. I believe that's where the games will be won and lost.

"We have to combat the intensity they bring. We've tried to understand how they will give it to us and we know they will give it everything right from the start," Gill mentioned.
