Player ratings: Rot has set in

French rugby is in a sad, sad state. The rot has truly set in under the tutelage of Philippe Saint-André.

Not only did they suffer a 0-3 whitewash at the hands of Australia, but the Wallabies' 39-13 win in Sydney on Saturday probably flatters the French.

The Aussies could have post 50 points again, as they did in the first Test, if they just took a few more of the many chances they had.

Jan de Koning rates the French players!

15 Brice Dulin:

Showed how dangerous he can be with ball in space, just didn't get enough chances.

6/10

14 Yoann Huget:

Virtually anonymous, apart from the occasional tackle.

4/10

13 Mathieu Bastareaud:

Simply just an overweight crash-test dummy – such a limited player.

3/10

12 Wesley Fofana:

Tried to inject some energy with his carries, but saw too little of the ball and was eventually reduced to a defensive role.

6/10

11 Hugo Bonneval:

Had a couple of promising runs, but missed more tackles than he made.

4/10

10 Remi Tales:

The Australians were running at his channel often and he racked up a huge tackle count. Also slipped a few.

6/10

9 Maxime Machenaud:

Just too predictable – just kept passing all match and seldom varied his game.

4/10

8 Damien Chouly:

France's most energetic forward by some distance – tackle, carries, a huge workrate off the ball and even stole a line-out.

7/10

7 Fulgence Ouedraogo:

Not perfect, as he slipped a couple of tackles, but at least he worked hard on defence.

6/10

6 Thierry Dusautoir (captain):

Was reduced to a defensive role, but he made his tackles with gusto.

7/10

5 Yoann Maestri:

His workrate was poor and he slipped tackles.

4/10

4 Alexandre Flanquart:

Works hard on defence, but limited in other parts of the game.

6/10

3 Rabah Slimani:

Got himself yellow carded for off-the-ball play and it was not a surprise he got pulled of early ion the second half.

3/10

2 Guilhem Guirado:

Made plenty of tackles, but was penalised a few times and also missed tackles.

5/10

1 Alexandre Menini:

Powerful in the early scrums and won his team a penalty. Made all his tackles.

6/10

Replacements:

16 Christophe Tolofua (on for Guirado, 68th min):

Not enough time to be rated.

17 Vincent Debaty (on for Menini, 47th min):

Poor workrate and slipped as many tackles as he made.

4/10

18 Thomas Domingo (on for Menini, 47th min):

Totally anonymous.

3/10

19 Bernard Le Roux (on for Flanquart, 59th min):

Made his tackles and won a line-out – better than most of his teammates.

6/10

20 Louis Picamoles (on for Chouly, 58th min):

Produced some energy and impact, making his tackles and winning a line-out.

6/10

21 Yannick Nyanga (on for Ouedraogo, 50th min):

Did the basics well, but nothing that would make you shout from the rooftops.

5/10

22 Freddie Michalak (on for Tales, 70th min):

Not enough time to be rated.

23 Remi Lamerat (on for Bonneval, 43rd min) :

Had a couple of runs and made his tackles.

5/10
