VIDEO: Boks to 'try few new things' in Cape Town
REACTION: With June Test series victory in the bag, Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus has revealed he would experiment a number of things in the final Test at Newlands, Cape Town.
South Africa have taken a 2-0 lead after an impressive 23-12 win over England in Bloemfontein.
For the second consecutive week, the Boks were forced to come from behind after they conceded two tries in the first 13 minutes of the match.
However, Duane Vermeulen’ five-pointer, 11 points courtesy of Handre Pollard’s boot and a penalty try ensured the Boks end victories in Bloemfontein.
“Being behind by only 12 points and not 24 points helped a bit, but we got our composure back quicker than last week,” Erasmus said afterwards.
“There were still a lot of mistakes, but I thought the character the guys showed was enough to win the game. What the players learned last week and again this week will help them going into the future.
“But we don’t want to start like that again. [There were] bad penalties that we gave away, bad discipline, a lot of things that we did wrong,”
Erasmus is determined to record a clean sweep against England, however, he has revealed he is happy to have a chance to experiment with the squad.
“It is nice to have the series wrapped up. Next week we want to try and win 3-0,” he said.
“But we will try a few new things because now we have the opportunity to put different guys in different positions under pressure,”
