Myall added to England squad

Former Sale Sharks lock Kearnan Myall has been added to the England squad that will depart for Uraguay and Argentina on Tuesday.

The lanky lock, who joins London Wasps later this summer from Sale Sharks, replaces Calum Clark, who has been ruled out of the trip with an ankle injury.

Myall appeared for England in last weekend’s 40-12 win against the Barbarians, featuring for the final 33 minutes of the match after replacing Bath’s Dave Attwood.

Ed Slater also stands down because of a reoccurrence of a tricep injury that he aggrevated in the Premiership final, so England will travel with 31 men to Buenos Aires.

They go to Montevideo, Uruguay, to face a Consur XV representing the South American nations on June 2 before Tests against Argentina in Salta and Buenos Aires.

England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster said: "It’s unfortunate for both Calum and Ed that they won’t be able to join up with England this summer but I’m sure they will be back and pushing for places next season.

"Kearnan [Myall] did well in a good team performance against the Barbarians and now has a great chance to continue his progress with us on tour.

"It means we travel with one player less than originally selected but we have lots of options in the second row and back row to cover for that," Lancaster added.
