All Black v ‘White Buffalo’

Multi-talented All Black star Sonny Bill Williams will square off against decorated South African heavyweight Francois Botha later this year.

Although in the twilight of his career, 43-year-old Botha will be unbeaten Williams’s toughest test to date, having fought world champions Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko.

The South African veteran landed the first verbal blow, saying “He doesn’t really deserve to fight me because he doesn’t belong in the same ring as me."

When the fight was first proposed in February, Botha said he wouldn't mind fighting "somewhere during half-time of a rugby match" and with "one hand tied behind his back".

Boxing promoter Thinus Strydom confirmed that the heavyweight battle will take place in Durban on November 17.
