Another milestone beckons for Thorn

Brad Thorn is set to notch up 100 Super Rugby matches when the Highlanders take on the Sharks in Dunedin on Saturday.

The veteran turned out 92 times for the Crusaders after making the move from Rugby League in 2001 before joining the Highlanders this year after a brief stint with Leinster that saw him add a European Cup winner’s medal to his impressive résumé.

The World Cup-winning All Black lock, who won 59 Test caps for New Zealand from 2003 to 2011, will join Piri Weepu and Chris King as 2013 New Zealand Super Rugby centurions.

All Black scrumhalf Andy Ellis, who has played 98 games for the Crusaders, stands a good chance of being the next New Zealander to reach the 100 mark.

The Highlanders are entrenched at the bottom of the log and will be looking to celebrate Thorn’s milestone with their first win of the season against an injury ravaged Sharks side this weekend.
