Ansbro back from broken neck

Scotland centre Joe Ansbro returned to London Irish on Monday to continue his rehabilitation after suffering a career-threatening neck injury.

Ansbro Joe suffered a triple fracture of his C1 vertebra whilst playing for London Irish against Munster in a pre-season fixture back in August.

After an MRI scan, it was confirmed that surgery was not required, and the injury would be managed by external fixation.

After spending the last few months at the family home in Scotland wearing the external fixation device, it was removed last week and he is now able to return to London to continue his recovery.

Ansbro thanked the rugby community at large for their support.

“I would like to thank everyone, especially my family and friends, for their support. I have been inundated with messages from not only London Irish and Scotland supporters, but the wider rugby community too.

“Your support has really got me through this tough time in my life and I am very grateful for that. I am glad to be back at London Irish and looking forward to catching up with my team mates.”
