Brumbies cement more stars

 

The Brumbies have had a busy week or two retaining players, the likes of Wallabies Nic White, Christian Lealiifano and Matt Toomua have all resigned for the Canberra club 

 

The pair will now be determined to add to their Test experience after they both made their debuts for the Wallabies in 2013.

 

Fardy earned 10 caps during his maiden Test season and is now Australia’s incumbent blindside flanker.

 

Fullback Mogg, who debuted in the third Test against The British & Irish Lions, earned selection on three occasions before shoulder surgery resulted in a premature end to his first international campaign.

 

Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie congratulated Fardy and Mogg on their re-signings.

 

“Scott and Jesse have experienced significantly different journeys on their way to earning Test selection, but both played a key part within the Wallabies squad at various points last year,” McKenzie said.

 

“Scott has been a revelation since returning to Australia a few years ago and a lot of hard work has gone into the success he’s had at both a provincial and Test level.

 

“It has been a meteoric rise for Jesse after debuting for the Brumbies in 2012. 

 

"He boasts a unique skill-set and there’s no doubting he will continue to improve as a player as he gains more experience over the next few years.”

 

Fardy realised his Test dream in 2013 when he earned a place in McKenzie's initial 40-man Rugby Championship squad, before winning selection in the opening Bledisloe Cup Test match of the year.

 

Proving you could teach an old dog new tricks, Fardy went on to feature in all six Rugby Championship matches, while he ended his debut year with 10 Test appearances, nine of those in the starting team at blindside flanker.

 

Mogg enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2013 which included his Test debut for the Wallabies and a Super Rugby Final appearance with the Brumbies.
