Carter slams Christchurch boo boys
All Black legend Daniel Carter has taken a swipe at the boorish behaviour of sections of the Christchurch crowd, who just can get over their hatred for Wallaby Quade Cooper.
The All Blacks and Crusaders flyhalf said enough's enough and it's "not a good look" to continue the booing of the New Zealand-born Cooper.
The issue has again come under the microscope after the Reds playmaker was booed with every touch of the ball in the Reds 9-38 Super Rugby play-off loss to the Crusaders last Saturday – prompting debate over whether it's all in good fun, or if it's gone too far.
Carter told Radio Sport "it's time everyone moved on", saying he didn't particularly like anyone being booed at any stadium.
Israel Dagg had earlier raised the issue following the Crusaders match, appealing for Kiwi fans to stop booing Cooper.
And in a TVNZ online discussion the past few days, it seems there's plenty of fans ready to forgive.
Writing on the TVNZ Facebook page, Aidan Morrell wrote: "Yip time to get over it now. Don't get me wrong he deserved it back in the day but it's time to move on, made the Crusaders supporters sound classless."
Nick Greet added: "Totally agree .. Cantabrians should be ashamed."
Daniel Luli echoed the views of both Carter and Dagg: "It's getting pretty immature now as the rest of the world is now starting to roll their eyes! Time to move on surely McCaw has."
But, it seems there's still plenty of Quade Cooper haters out there.
All Blacks and Crusaders fans, such as Michael Burson, haven't forgotten the last time Cooper came to Christchurch.
"When you appear to be above the team – like Carlos Spencer was with the Blues and antagonise players, you face the consequences.
"Don't forget that it is the first time has played against the Crusaders in Christchurch since he picked on McCaw etc."
TVNZ reader Paul Walker said Cooper was deserving of the treatment he received.
"He had it coming, I am sure everyone will move on.. But his gross disrespect for a fellow rugby player was way out if line. Did he ever apologise?"
Whether Kiwi crowds are prepared to give the embattled Aussie number 10 another go will be evident a month from now, when the Wallabies journey to Wellington to take on the All Blacks.
New Wallaby coach Ewen McKenzie is almost certain to return Cooper into the green and gold.
