Cheetahs see weakness as strength

The Cheetahs are still without two of their star performers in the front row but that has not stopped coach Rory Duncan from focusing that as a strength.

Springbok prop Coenie Oosthuizen and his namesake Caylib Oosthuizen are still not available to the Cheetahs with some inexperienced front rowers doing duty.

Luan de Bruin and Kevin Stevens are still very new to this level of rugby with both of them on debut last weekend.

Duncan has not let this lack of experience phase him stating that their scrums have been a big part of training.

"If anything, we are less experienced at prop, but our scrummaging was one of our main focuses during the week," the coach said.

"Our goal is to do better than against the Pumas.

"There we let a couple of chances slip mainly do to a little bit of inexperience.

"We want to rectify that."

Duncan is also expecting a ferocious battle from the Griquas this weekend as they look to bounce back from a hard-fought loss against the Sharks.

"We expect Griquas to play the full 80 minutes, the coach went on.

They lost to the Sharks last weekend in what was a good performance.

"They will be out to prove a point against us and we will need to stand our ground.

"We know they will run hard at us and try to knock us back into our own half and we will also be mindful of those little chip kicks from their flyhalf Francois Brummer."

Both the Cheetahs and Griquas lost their opening games, it will be a real tussle to see who can gain the ascendancy on Saturday.
