Chiefs sign Tasman star

The back-to-back Super Rugby champions, the Chiefs, have added dynamic try-scoring Tasman wing James Lowe to their squad.

The 21-year-old has signed with the Chiefs until 2015 on the back of his outstanding form in this year's NPC.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said: "James is having a great season.  He is quick, powerful and adds a point of difference to our backline.

"He is a quality young man and we are looking forward to working with him."

Excited by what has happened at the Chiefs the last two season, Lowe said he can't wait to be part of it and made the decision to move north despite interest from a number of other franchises.

Lowe has played 14 games for Tasman NPC team, making his debut for the Makos against Canterbury in 2012.

He was part of the successful New Zealand Schools team that beat Australia in 2010.
