Foley asked to explain 'Tahs slump
Under-fire Waratahs coach Michael Foley was called into an NSW board meeting to present a review of his team's Super Rugby season to date.
The 'Tahs have struggled this season and are already out of the race for a place in the playoffs, with little more than pride left at stake in 2012. The team are currently on a six-game losing streak and sit in 11th place on the log.
Foley too the job as head coach late last year and has lead the 'Tahs through a difficult season. His captain Rocky Elsom and experienced players Lachie Turner, Drew Mitchell and Dan Vickerman have all been injured for the majority of the campaign. In addition to those losses loose forward Pat McCutcheon and prop Paddy Ryan have been unavailable and the squad has struggled with some many important players missing.
Waratahs chairman Edwin Zemancheff explained that the board will now consider all of Foley's information and proposals, but the main focus remains on the final two matches of the year against the Brumbies and Reds.
In addition to hearing Foley's presentation the board also welcomed Michael Miller and Roger Davis into their ranks. Miller is a former President of South Australian Rugby, while Davis is a former Waratah and Wallaby.
The Board will take time to consider the content of the review, but all indications suggest Foley might be fighting for his job in the final two matches of the season.
