Friday D-Day for Thomson

The hearing for the International Rugby Board’s appeal against All Black flank Adam Thomson’s sanction will take place in London on Friday.

The IRB on Wednesday appealed the one-week suspension handed down to Thomson for stamping or trampling on the head of an opponent contrary to Law 10.4 (b) during the match between Scotland and New Zealand on November 11.

The IRB labelled the ban an “unduly lenient sanction” and said it was “not aligned with the sanctions handed down in similar cases.”

The Appeal Committee, appointed by the IRB, will comprise Jeff Blackett, (England), Jeremy Summers (England) and Pat Barriscale (Ireland).
