Griquas star banned

Griquas coach Pote Human has to make do without star fullback Willie le Roux for his side's Currie Cup encounter against Western Province in Kimberley on Saturday.

Le Roux was sin-binned last week and later cited for a dangerous tackle on his Blue Bulls counterpart, Jurgen Visser, in the first match of the season.

Le Roux was suspended for one week by a disciplinary hearing in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

Starting at flyhalf against the Bulls last week, Francois Brummer, has been moved to fullback.

Marnitz Boshoff comes in at flyhalf for his first start of the Currie Cup.

Human has also included Wilmaure Louw at wing for the injured Luzuko Vulindlu, while Jean Stemmet earns his first start at centre in place of the injured veteran JP Nel.

"It is very unfortunate that Willie was suspended, but we have to accept that fate and move on," said Human.

"We now have to focus on delivering a good performance against Western Province. We can't afford to lose our home games. We set ourselves the goal of not losing one game in Kimberley," Human said.

In the only tactical change, the coach has opted to bring in flank Wesley Wilkins for what will be his first class game in almost a year. He comes in for Jonathan Adendorff, who drops out of the team.

Griquas: 15 Francois Brummer, 14 Wilmaure Louw, 13 Jean Stemmet, 12 Stefan Watermeyer, 11 Rocco Jansen, 10 Marnitz Boshoff, 9 Jacques Coetzee, 8 Leon Karemaker, 7 Justin Downey, 6 Wesley Wilkins, 5 Martin Muller, 4 Ligtoring Landman, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Ryno Barnes (captain), 1 Steph Roberts.
