Hundreds attend funeral

Hundreds of people turned out for the funeral of a former Royal Marine who was beaten to death at a rugby match in Durban, the Mercury newspaper reported.

Louise Scott, the fiancee of Brett Williams, said "we could hardly find space" for all the funeral-goers on Thursday afternoon.

Williams was beaten to death following a Super XV match between the Sharks and the Melbourne Rebels at Kings Park Stadium on March 23.

Four men have been charged with murder in connection with his death, while a fifth faces an assault charge.

Brothers Blayne and Kyle Shepard, Andries van der Merwe and Dustin van Wyk were banned earlier this week from Kings Park stadium until the completion of their trial.
