Is Cooper boxing clever?

Quade Cooper is set to meet with Reds CEO Jim Carmichael to discuss the future of the flyhalf's budding boxing career.

Cooper knocked out insurance salesman Barry Dunnett on the undercard of Sonny Bill Williams' fight against South African Francois Botha in February and has recently hinted that he intends to box again.

Williams has put his boxing career on hold since moving back to Rugby League, but it appears as if Cooper will look to go further in the sport.

Reds coach Richard Graham said that although the Queensland franchise are open-minded about Cooper's boxing, Carmichael will be meeting with the star playmaker soon before discussing his intentions with the ARU.

"Now Quade is back in Australia, Queensland Rugby CEO Jim Carmichael will meet Quade and discuss his training and preparation program in advance of the 2014 Super Rugby season and understand any plans Quade may have for his free time outside that Super Rugby preparation program," a QRU spokesman told AAP on Wednesday.

"Jim Carmichael will also be in consultation with the ARU on this."

Carmichael held a similar meeting with Cooper last year in order to ensure that his boxing training would not detract from his rugby.
