Muller pondering his future

World Cup-winning Springbok Johann Muller will decide soon whether to hang up his boots or continue playing.

The 34-year-old lock is pondering a possible contract extension with Irish province Ulster, but admitted he is also considering putting an end to his career and return home to South Africa.

"I haven't made my decision yet about next year and the years to come," the lock told BBC Sport NI.

"That will happen in the next four or five weeks," he added.

The Ulster captain's recent battles with injury may influence his decision.

Muller has been out of action for much of the current season because of a calf injury.

The second row veteran, who moved to Ulster from the Sharks in 2010, was also ruled out for several weeks during last season because of arm and hand injuries.

Muller is hoping to be passed fit to play in Ulster's European Cup game against Montpellier on Friday.
