MyPlayers appoint new chairman

MyPlayers Rights Management, which is responsible for the management of the collective interests and purpose of all professional rugby players in South Africa, has appointed Louis von Zeuner as board chairman.

Established in 2009, MyPlayers is owned by the players and serves as the official players' business responsible to manage all the various collective affairs of the players such as their collective intellectual property rights, players media platforms, SARPA, the players brand and benevolent fund.

"It is indeed an honour and privilege to join the MyPlayers board – I am looking forward to working with the management of MyPlayers in the best interest of our players.

“The relationship with SARU is extremely important and I trust that also at that level we will work together to the benefit of the game. I wish to thank outgoing chairman Tony Irish for the solid foundation laid and wish him well with continuing activities at SACA," said Von Zeuner.

Managing Director and board member of MyPlayers Eugene Henning expressed his excitement on the appointment of the new chairman.

"The appointment of Louis is a huge boost to the players’ organisation. He comes with a wealth of experience and MyPlayers will no doubt benefit hugely from this. We are looking forward in welcoming Louis to MyPlayers and are excited to work with him."

A former deputy Chief Executive at a top South African bank, Von Zeuner boasts over three decades in the financial services industry. No stranger to sports, Von Zeuner worked closely with the South African Rugby Union and was also recently appointed on the board Cricket South Africa as an Independent Director.
