North-South warm-up in Polokwane

The Bulls and the Stormers will put the final touches on their Super Rugby preparations in a warm-up match in Polokwane on February 1 next year.

For the third consecutive year, the Bulls will take to the impressive 45 000-seater World Cup stadium as part of a partnership between the Blue Bulls Company (BBC) and the Polokwane Municipality which is aimed at generating funds for tertiary learners in the province.

Barend van Graan, Blue Bulls Company CEO, said the Polokwane fixture is one of the highlights of their pre-season preparations.

"Now in our third year of this agreement, we've always felt very much at home in Polokwane. The stadium is world class, the people supportive and the weather outstanding.

"The only thing left is for both teams to put on an outstanding display in their first time out. We are honoured that by participating in this match, we can hopefully send many more eager young learners on to further their education," he said.

Freddy Greaver, Polokwane Executive Mayor, has watched the rugby culture grow in the city ever since the Bulls first played a warm-up match in the city in 2010 against the Lions.

"The Peter Mokaba Stadium is a stadium starved of quality rugby. So this match once again provides a platform on which not only can our people enjoy the game, but we can also fundraise for tertiary students who will ultimately help grow the Limpopo economy. I see it as a win-win situation for all those involved and thank the BBC for their partnership," he said.
