Buying time?

The announcement of the Springbok squad to tour Australasia has been delayed until Wednesday.

SARU confirmed via Twitter this afternoon that the final 28-man squad to face Australia in Perth and New Zealand in Dunedin would not in fact be confirmed on Tuesday.

With the drawn Test match against Argentina having left more questions than answers for Bok coach Heyneke Meyer, this may mean that he has needed a bit more time to figure out who to take along to face the top two sides in the world on their home turf.

There is growing speculation surrounding the possible call-up of Duane Vermeulen who has played just 100 minutes of Currie Cup rugby over two weeks for Western Province, and the postponement may mean that he is being given extra time to prove his availability.
