Doped up

The Lance Armstrong saga has caused all sports to reflect on the influence of doping.

The sport of cycling has had its culture of widespread performance enhancement exposed which has raised questions about the role of banned substances in all other sport.

Former Springbok skipper John Smit was quizzed on Twitter about the role of drugs in rugby, and his reply was hopeful if not assured.

"Drugs in all sport need to be addressed, I know SARU has started to address drugging in School boy rugby so lets hope our kids make good decisions in the future. Perhaps we need to invest more money in the testing process, who knows boet RT @steadyrob: @JohnSmit123 Hey John. Is it my imagination or is there a deafening silence regarding performance enhancing substances in rugby?"
