Potgieter stays true to the Blue

Springbok and Bulls loose forward Jacques Potgieter has extended his contract with the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd.

The Bulls confirmed on Wednesday that the robust flank, who joined the Bulls in 2011 from the EP Kings and immediately made an impact, will stay on till 2015.

Potgieter produced fine form in the 2012 Super Rugby season, in which he made his Bulls debut, which saw him being picked to play for the Springboks in 2012, earning three caps.

Commenting on the extension of his contract, Potgieter said the Bulls style of play benefits his game.

"I am very happy in Pretoria and have progressed so much as a player since my arrival here," Potgieter said.

"I would like to stay on and develop my game even further.

"The great work ethic makes it easy to operate here if you believe in working hard."

BBC High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg was very pleased with this development.

"Jacques has shown himself as one of the most committed and versatile loose forwards in the country over the last couple of seasons," Janse van Rensburg said.

"His abrasiveness fits well with our style of play and to have him around till at least the end of November 2015 is a real bonus for us."

* In another development, Janse van Rensburg confirmed a new deal with scrum coach Wessel Roux.

The former Springbok front row forward is now the Blue Bulls Under-19 forwards coach and scrum coach to all junior and senior Blue Bulls sides.

"Wessel is the ideal mentor for the junior props in our structures and has the knowledge to assist at the highest level," Janse van Rensburg said.

"He has played until fairly recently and has a fantastic way of working with the players. We are very pleased to have Wessel around for another stint."
