Rebels in Brumby coup

The Melbourne Rebels said Sunday they had signed flank Colby Fainga'a from Australian rivals the Brumbies for the 2014 Super Rugby season.

The former Australian Under-20 captain, the younger brother of Wallabies and Reds twins Saia and Anthony, will join the Rebels on a one-year contract.

Rebels head coach Damien Hill said Faingaa, 22, was a great signing for his franchise because of his versatility and his desire to improve himself.

"He is a tremendous openside flank who can cover all positions in the back row, which is a skill not many forwards possess in this competition," Hill said.

Faingaa has played 26 Super Rugby games for the Brumbies and joins London Irish prop Max Lahiff, Leinster hooker Tom Sexton and former Wallaby scrumhalf Luke Burgess in Melbourne's ranks next season.
