Record crowd to watch Baby Boks

SARU announced on Thursday that more than 30 000 tickets have already been sold for the IRB Junior World Championship final on Friday at Newlands.

The Newlands attendance figure is already 8 000 more than the previous best effort at a JWC final, making the match between South Africa and New Zealand a new record for the tournament.

Friday will be the first JWC final for the South Africa Under-20 side, while New Zealand have won all four previous tournaments.

Moving the fixtures from Stellenbosch to Cape Town midway through the tournament has been a massive success, as the attendance at the matches has dramatically improved from the opening rounds.

"We are absolutely delighted with the amazing supporting from rugby support in the Western Cape province," aid Steven Roos, the SARU tournament manager.

"It is mainly thanks to their passionate support that we've been able to stage such a successful event. The four hosts venues also deserve much credit for their sterling efforts."
