Rhys in disciplinary Webb

Ospreys scrumhalf Rhys Webb has been cited for stamping on an opponent during the ill-tempered Pro12 match against Scarlets on Boxing Day.

The alleged incident occurred in the 71st minute of the Swansea match and went unseen by referee Nigel Owens, who had his hands full in the heated Boxing Day derby.

Owens sent five Scarlets from the field during the contest, yellow carding lock George Earle, replacement Tavis Knoyle and flyhalf Aled Thomas and red carding replacements Gareth Owen and Rob McCusker in the match the Ospreys won 32-3.

Webb’s hearing is due to be held in Dublin on Sunday before an independent three-man disciplinary panel chaired by David Martin, Chairman of the Celtic Rugby Disciplinary Panel.

Details of the disciplinary hearings for Owen and McCusker are yet to be confirmed.
