Sharks confirm Bok signing

The Sharks on Monday finally confirmed reports, which first surfaced last week, that they have signed Griquas' Springbok tighthead prop Lourens Adriaanse on a two-year deal.

Adriaanse, who is currently with the Bok in Argentina ahead of the second round of the Rugby Championship, will officially join the Sharks in November.

He will participate in the Sharks' pre-season training ahead of the start of the Super Rugby tournament in 2014.

Confirming the signing, Sharks Commercial Manager Rudolf Straeuli said they have been impressed with Adriaanse's performances for both the Cheetahs in Super Rugby and Griquas in the Currie Cup competition.

"He has a good workrate around the park and will add depth to our tight five," Straeuli said.

Sharks CEO John Smit also welcomed the news.

"Lourens has displayed his immense potential and value as a tighthead prop and is a good addition to our squad," Smit said.

"We look forward to welcoming him to The Sharks family."
